On April 3rd Sean celebrated his first birthday with mom and dad, followed by a big bash a few days later with lots of family and friends. That's right, our little baby is a baby no more! He's officially a walking, talking, regular-food-eating toddler! How did that happen?! What a year it has been—he's gone from a teeny 6-lb-9-oz baby to a 22-pound little boy with quite the personality.
One of his favorite things to do is dance, whether music is playing or not, that boy has got moves! Now that the weather has gotten nicer, we have been spending more time outside, which Sean loves. When he's outside he's on a mission-he walks around looking for sticks, then just carries them around talking and pointing. Every night while I'm getting his tub ready he likes to play hide-and-seek, naked of course, laughing and squealing while he "runs" around the bathroom hiding behind the vanity. He's also become very affectionate, and loves to give lots of hugs and sloppy kisses which we think is just the best.
Did I mention he's talking?? It seems like every day he adds words to his vocabulary. Right now he's in a B-phase preferring words beginning with "B" such as bye-bye, ball, book, ba-ba(for bottle), bah (as in "what does a sheep say?") but he also says dada, mama, nana, more, dog, door, stick, sock, hi, ut-oh, no, pooh, and his most favorite of all "what's that?" which actually sounds more like "zat?" which he says while pointing at everything he sees.
Now that he is walking (sometimes so fast it's practically running) he is into everything. We can't turn our back on him for a second because he's either heading straight for the dog's water bowl, the light cord, the outlet, the fireplace, or the stairs. He's learned to open drawers and cabinets, and although we thought we had baby-proofed pretty well, he's always finding new dangerous things to explore and get his little fingers into.
We are having so much fun watching our little boy grow and learn and can't wait to see what the next year will bring!
